From Balance Sheets to Browser Tabs
A self-taught developer's route from finance to the front end
Programming isn't just a career for me. It's a passion I found after trying on a few different paths, from finance and banking to education, before code finally stuck.
Today I build scalable web applications where clean functionality meets considered design. Completing the Google UX Design Professional Certificate sharpened my instinct for turning rough ideas into something people actually enjoy.
What I bring beyond the code is the years before it. Finance gave me structured, analytical thinking, which now shows up when I'm debugging complex logic or reasoning through architectural decisions. Teaching sharpened my communication — breaking something complex down for people who don't share the vocabulary, whether that's a stakeholder or a teammate from another discipline.
Lately I've been building that side on purpose — the Google Project Management Certificate was a deliberate step toward technical leadership, staying close to the code while growing into someone who can steer the work. And when the mood takes me, I still wander into things like life science and healthcare, for the plain pleasure of figuring out how something works.
